20 Reasons to Re-Elect President Trump
Before President Trump, every president in the past 40 years got the United States involved in some kind of foreign war:
- Carter: Afghanistan
- Reagan: Lebanon, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Grenada, Libya, Iran-Iraq, Angola, Ethiopia
- Bush I: Panama, Persian Gulf, Somalia
- Clinton: Haiti, Bosnia, Kosovo
- Bush II: Afghanistan, Iraq
- Obama: Libya, Iraq, Mali, Yemen, Somalia
This is not to say that at least some of these interventions weren’t justified. Perhaps they were.
But it is unprecedented in modern times to have a president that hasn’t embroiled the United States in any new wars.
On the contrary, President Trump has been busy getting America out of the wars he inherited.
Here’s Robert Gates, Defense Secretary under Presidents Obama and Bush:
“At least he hasn’t started any new wars and he has robustly funded the military.”
Also very important, he may have saved the U.S. from war by deescalating tensions with North Korea. (When President Obama left office, he reportedly told President Trump that war with North Korea was his biggest concern.)
Trump’s aversion to military conflict is also evident in his firing of National Security Advisor John Bolton, saying that he “only wanted to go to war”.
“If I listened to him, we would be in World War Six by now.”
The President also characterized Pentagon leaders as warmongers.
“I’m not saying the military’s in love with me — the soldiers are.”
“The top people in the Pentagon probably aren’t because they want to do nothing but fight wars so that all of those wonderful companies that make the bombs and make the planes and make everything else stay happy.”
“But we’re getting out of the endless wars.”
President Trump clearly prefers peace and diplomacy over military intervention.
He’s clearly not comfortable sending young Americans to die in faraway lands.
In fact, for all of his first term, he’s been trying to bring the troops home.
Four more years of Trump means four more years of aggressive diplomacy, maximum pressure policies, peace through strength, and doing everything possible to avoid American military fatalities.
